Automation, AI, and the New Logic of the Labor Market

Work will never be the same again. It is time to stop pretending that automation will only change our tools and not the very logic of the labor market.

During the European Economic Congress, Kacper Nosarzewski, partner at 4CF and board member of the Polish Society for Futures Studies, highlighted the uncomfortable dimension of this change: wherever technology can increase productivity and profitability, the pressure to reduce labor costs will be real. It won’t always be about shifting an employee to new tasks. Sometimes, it will simply be about replacing the process altogether.

This does not mean that humans will disappear from the economy. However, it does mean that the value of competencies, the pace of their obsolescence, and the responsibility of leaders to prepare their organizations for scenarios that recently seemed distant are rapidly changing.

AI is no longer a topic for the future. It is a factor rebuilding business models, employment structures, and competitive advantages right here and now. Therefore, the most important question is not, “Will AI take our jobs?” It is: which tasks, roles, and operational models in our organization will stop making sense sooner than we assume?
