Saxo Bank’s “Shocking Predictions” in TVP’s “Pytanie na Sniadanie”

Saxo Bank’s “Shocking Predictions” is an annual thought experiment. Experts predict a series of unlikely events, the materialisation of which could cause an upheaval in the financial markets. Saxo Bank publishes them every year in a bid to draw attention to the riskiest scenarios.

Bartosz Frąckowiak of 4CF The Futures Literacy Company commented on these predictions in Pytanie na Śniadanie on Telewizja Polska.

It is worth emphasising that these predictions are not Saxo Bank’s baseline forecasts, but rather an attempt to imagine alternative realities. Interestingly, some previous ‘shocking predictions’ have come true. This was the case with the thesis that 2013 would see gold prices fall by as much as a third – to as low as $1,200 per ounce. In 2015. Saxo Bank, on the other hand, predicted a decision on Brexit, which came to pass, albeit a little later. In this case, the experts were only wrong by one year. Two years later, they hit with a ‘shocking prediction’ that there would be an unprecedented bull market in cryptocurrencies, and in 2022 a prediction materialised that the plan to move away from fossil fuels would go sideways when the priority for the European Union became responding to Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine and energy blackmail against the EU.
