Poland thinks about the future
Poland thinks about the future
“Poland has already taken the first steps in the transformation toward a future-oriented state. Of course, it is worth adding more bricks to this construction. One can – and should – work on clear relations of the Concept of National Development (KRK2050) with medium-term documents at the central level or other strategic documents at the local government level. It is possible to enrich the KRK2050 with elements of a risk-monitoring system that will ensure that challenges and opportunities for the country’s development are taken into account in the planning processes of all ministries. At the same time, however, it is worth remembering that the seeds of a system for thinking about the future in Polish administration already exist. The debate is therefore worth focusing on how to use this system to ensure the best possible future for Poles, without knocking down doors that have already been opened.”
We recommend the article in Dziennik Gazeta Prawna by our colleague Karol Wasilewski.
Karol also added on the Concept for National Development 2050, to which he and 4CF The Futures Literacy Company had the opportunity to contribute. “Very often we underestimate the people who work for the state. We complain about their narrow-mindedness, lack of innovation, siloed administration, under-resourcing and so on. Probably many of us would have arguments to back up these complaints. I won’t fight your experience, but I would like to assure you that there is also a glimmer of hope. The officials and researchers I’ve had the opportunity to work with on the KRK2050 are passionate, curious individuals who are convinced that Poland can no longer afford to be siloed, and instead must seek collaborative solutions that will enable it to hedge against the risks of the future and take advantage of the opportunities it gives birth to. A low nod to all of them – if this way of thinking becomes widespread in the state administration (and having worked quite often with the public sector, I know that there are strong indications that this is already happening), the Poland of the future will be a beautiful and resilient country!”
