People in the city of the future
“Thirty, forty years from now, cities will not have won the race for reality”
“We culturally have a powerful fetish for the city just like the tourists of a century ago almost. We are fascinated by the city, by the mass or the cash, and by the machinery that is only available in this city or only possible in this city,” – Kacper Nosarzewski said. – “Even if now the urban lifestyle is a dream for most and a reference for all, maybe in thirty, forty years cities will not win the race for reality,” – he added.
The role of the city in the present and future was discussed by Dr Joanna Jurga, innovator and lecturer, Kacper Nosarzewski, futurist and board member of the Polish Society for Future Studies and partner at 4CF, Karolina Zdrodowska, coordinator for entrepreneurship and social dialogue at the Warsaw City Hall, and Dariusz Rosiak, who oversaw the discussion.
“In Dr Jurga’s opinion, the city’s role is mainly as a ‘supportive factor in the formation of communities’. According to Karolina Zdrodowska, “nothing brings about change as quickly as a crisis” and perhaps thanks to the energy crisis, for example, there will be a “fusion of technologies and needs”.
