Kacper Nosarzewski on protectionism for Gazeta Wyborcza’s podcast: What happens if we stop buying German cleaning products in Poland?

The 72nd episode of the Jutronauci podcast. Will governments decide to shield local markets and entrepreneurs by introducing the principles of protectionism? Did the pandemic accelerate an inevitable process? According to research conducted by the University of Sankt Gallen as part of the Global Trade Alert project, the number of protectionist interventions at a national level has been growing for over a decade. What if protectionism is the only chance to defend ourselves against the Chinese deluge, and if such steps reflect our shared interests? Can protectionism, hitherto successfully implemented e.g. in Scandinavian countries, be effective in Poland? Or maybe, in our reality, protectionism will increase prices and reduce the choice of products? The consequences of protectionism and the legitimacy of such solutions were discussed by Kasper Kalinowski and Kacper Nosarzewski, a partner at 4CF and member of the board at the Polish Society for Futures Studies.
