Applied Foresight in Action
Applied Foresight in Action

At the starting today Futures Conference 2025 in Turku, Anna Sacio-Szymańska from 4CF The Futures Literacy Company will present how applied foresight can drive meaningful change across sectors.
She will share insights from four Horizon Europe projects:
- Project IDEALIST: We’ll show how mapping weak signals with 11 industrial clusters can strengthen SME resilience.
- BIOEAST & BOOST4BIOEAST: We’ll present how bioeconomy experts in 11 countries are co-creating 2030 National Action Plans.
- MASTT2040: We’ll explore 20 future use-cases of “Manufacturing-as-a-Service” in Europe’s green and digital transition.
- Geek4Food: We’ll demonstrate how AI is transforming education and personalized career guidance in the agri-food sector.
We’ll emphasize that foresight innovation isn’t just about new tech – it’s about context, creativity, and connecting vision with action. Whether shaping policy or personal development, foresight will become a vital tool for navigating uncertainty and building resilient futures.
Join us in Turku and let’s go beyond prediction, toward futures that are designed, not just anticipated.
The central theme of this year’s edition is the mutual shaping of socio-technical transformations, exploring how emerging technologies and societal changes influence one another. Sessions and keynote speeches will address a wide range of topics, including the ethical assessment of technologies like AI, the use of foresight methodologies for policymaking and strategic planning, the impact of digital transformation across various sectors like construction and education, and the role of design and participatory practices in envisioning and creating desirable futures. Experts will highlight the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, addressing complex challenges such as climate change and social inequality, and developing futures literacy as a crucial competency for navigating an uncertain world.
