Anticipating Threats in the Synthetic Drug Landscape

4CF at the EUDA Workshop in Lisbon

Last week in Lisbon, alongside experts from the Justice and Home Affairs Agencies’ Network (JHAAN), Shaheen Gaszewski represented 4CF The Futures Literacy Company to co-facilitate a foresight workshop on the futures of synthetic drugs at the European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA). The session explored how strategic foresight can anticipate threats such as shifting supply chains, new technologies, and ecological pressures in the synthetic drug landscape.

It was an excellent opportunity to benefit from the expertise of competent officials from the EU’s Justice and Home Affairs agencies and to showcase two of our foresight tools: cinematic scenario videos, created for us by ARCTIK – Communication for Sustainability, and our own 4CF FLEx Foresight Gamebooks.

We would like to extend our thanks to Wenzel Mehnert, Arianna Ferrari, PhD, and Masafumi Nishi of the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology for competently leading the facilitation of the workshop, and to Alessandra Bo and Klaudia Palczak of EUDA for hosting us.
