A Triple Jubilee
A Triple Jubilee
Today, February 14, 2026, we celebrate a special moment for the entire foresight community. The Millennium Project is marking its 30th anniversary. This represents three decades of global, participatory research on the future, conducted with the good of humanity in mind.
Starting in 1992 as a feasibility study led by Ted Gordon and Jerome Glenn—at a time when even the year 2000 seemed like a long-term horizon—The Millennium Project has evolved into a unique, decentralized think tank. Today, it is a global network of over 70 Nodes, featuring thousands of experts, 20 editions of the “State of the Future” report, and a tangible impact on UN discussions regarding environmental security and artificial intelligence governance.
For 4CF, however, this day has an even more special dimension. For us, 2026 is the Year of the Triple Jubilee:
- 30 years of The Millennium Project – We are proud to have actively co-created this network as the Polish Node continuously since 2009. Over the years, we have contributed to tools such as the State of the Future Index. Today, we are co-creating the new edition of Futures Research Methodologies and developing the Real-Time Delphi technique on a global scale. The success of The Millennium Project relies on collective wisdom, and we are glad that the Polish perspective is a permanent part of it.
- 20 years of 4CF – This year is also our own celebration. For two decades, 4CF has been supporting organizations in navigating the uncertain waters of the future, building strategies prepared for environmental changes, and developing foresight competencies in Poland and across Europe. We will share more details about our jubilee initiatives soon.
- 250 years of Polish science fiction – We remember the heritage from which Polish futures studies grow. In 1776, Ignacy Krasicki’s novel “The Adventures of Mr. Nicholas Wisdom” (Mikołaja Doświadczyńskiego przypadki) was published. This Enlightenment-era work is an early example of a thought experiment in which the author designs an alternative social model, making it the symbolic beginning of Polish future-oriented thinking.
Thank you for being with us on this journey. We are creating the future together.
