READJUST project

READJUST project

Find out more about the challenges and inequalities emerging in the agrifood and mobility sectors due to green transition and digital transformation. Discover how READJUST is contributing to a fair twin transition that leaves no one behind.

Project partners: Fraunhofer ISI, EIT Food SOLIDAR & SOLIDAR Foundation VTT EURICE – European Research and Project Office GmbH University of Amsterdam YAGHMA EIT Urban Mobility

The researchers identified potential and existing inequalities in both sectors:

Mobility sector

  • Mobility Accessibility: Digital platforms and mobile apps enhance shared mobility services, promoting efficient resource use, but exclude those unable to engage with these technologies.
  • Procedural Justice in Mobility: Digital technologies such as interactive mapping apps can empower citizens to share mobility patterns, helping to advocate for policies that enhance environmental impact and equity in mobility. Yet not all initiatives have equal resources to use these technologies.

Agri-food sector

  • Market Driven Inequalities in Smart Farming: Smart farming solutions and digital tools can minimize environmental impact and resource use. However, data from these systems is usually owned by agribusinesses and tech companies, leaving farmers with limited control and the skills to analyze it effectively.
  • Labour Market Effects of Agricultural Technology: Technological advancements in agriculture can lead to job displacement, increasing the risk of labor exploitation. Marginalized workers can find themselves in low-training roles with limited advancement opportunities.
