The Future of Polish Horticulture

The Future of Polish Horticulture

What direction should Polish horticulture take? Where are we now, and where will we be in 10–15 years? These questions were the focus of a discussion led by Katarzyna Figiel from 4CF The Futures Literacy Company during the opening session of the SadyOgrody.pl – Innovations and Perspectives conference.

Katarzyna Figiel shared her thoughts:
“I had the great pleasure of participating in the opening session of the SadyOgrody.pl conference, which brought together industry experts to reflect on the challenges of the future. A crucial perspective was provided by President Witold Boguta, who cited the example of the Netherlands, where the sector is planned with a horizon of not just a few but several decades. This long-term approach is still rare in Poland, but for us at 4CF The Futures Literacy Company, it is the cornerstone of our work. We support companies in thinking this far ahead, as it is the only way to truly prepare for future challenges.

Equally impressive is the work of the Institute of Horticulture – National Research Institute. Its successes and ongoing projects were highlighted by the director, Professor Bożena Matysiak, PhD, DSc. Experts from the Institute are keenly aware of the challenges Poland faces and, together with industry representatives, are actively developing solutions such as new resilient plant varieties, biofertilizers, and innovations in automation and robotics. This is proof that the sector already possesses the necessary know-how.

The key now is to define a clear development strategy for the sector and secure adequate funding for its implementation.”
