4CF at the Polish Design Forum
How can we design for tomorrow, not just for today? That was the key question we explored at the Polish Design Forum.
First, during his presentation “Designing the Future – Foresight for the Creative Industry”, Kacper Nosarzewski took us on a journey through alternative scenarios of comfort. We asked ourselves whether the future of our furniture might be shaped by:
- “Living” Comfort: Based on materials that grow, like mycelium.
- “Structural” Comfort: Achieved through 3D-printed meshes made from a single polymer.
- “Systemic” Comfort: Design that doesn’t rely on traditional “softness,” driven by smart textiles and furniture-as-a-service models.
Later, in the “Designing for Tomorrow” workshop, Kacper Nosarzewski and Michał Nadziak demonstrated how foresight strengthens design in practice. Together we followed a path: from spotting signals of change, through scenario analysis, to generating concrete design concepts.
The key takeaway from both sessions: foresight is not forecasting. It isn’t about being “right” about one future. It’s about being a Proactive Designer — someone who systematically explores multiple possibilities in order to make better and more innovative decisions today.
